Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire in Yateley on Thursday, May 21.

At around 2.45pm a fire was reported at the unoccupied Old Coach House in Macrae Road.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were able to bring the blaze under control but the roof and the first floor of the building were destroyed.

Officers are treating the incident as arson.

PC Geoff Hill, of the Yateley Targeted Patrol Team, said:

“This was a serious fire that we believe was started deliberately.

“Fortunately nobody was hurt and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were able to bring the fire under control.

“Starting fires on purpose is extremely dangerous and puts innocent members of the public at risk.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and would ask any witnesses to contact police as soon as possible.”
