Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died at hospital following an assault in Aldershot on Tuesday, June 2.
Jason Gosling, 23, of Birchett Road, Farnborough died at Frimley Park Hospital at around 9am today. A post mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon.
Detectives from Hampshire Constabulary's Major Crime Department are now treating the incident as murder.
Mr Gosling suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted at around 11.30pm outside of an address in Birchett Road, Aldershot.
Following the assault a man and a woman who were driving past stopped and got out to help the victim and detectives are now keen to trace them.
The woman administered first aid and police believe she may have a medical or nursing background.
A 19-year-old man from Farnborough has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in custody.
Detective Constable Debbie Webb, of Hampshire Constabulary's Major Crime Department, said: "We are keen to trace the man and woman who stopped to help the victim.
"They were travelling in a dark coloured car and the woman told a member of the ambulance crew that the man she was with was her son-in-law.
"We also believe a third woman may have stopped to help as she was passing by.
"We would ask anyone who stopped to help the victim or anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police as soon as possible."
