Officers from the Farnborough Safer Neighbourhoods Team are warning anyone found responsible for racially motivated criminal damage that they could face losing their home.

A number of reports have been received from residents in Kingsley Road that youths have been causing damage to property and being racially abusive.

PC Liz Asplin, from the West Heath Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and we will take action against anyone found to be committing these crimes.

“The penalties for racially motivated offences are severe and could involve other agencies as well as the police. If you are convicted of these offences, you could end up with a criminal record which will affect your employment and future opportunities.

“You and your family could also become subject to anti-social behaviour contracts and injunctions, and if your home is owned by a housing association, you could be evicted.

“The people targeting these residents may think it is amusing and just a bit of fun, but it can have a serious impact on their quality of life. Please think about your behaviour and if you are a parent, please speak to your children about causing anti-social behaviour to others and the consequences their actions may have.”

PC Asplin is also appealing to other residents in Kingsley Road who have suffered similar incidents but not reported them to get in touch.

She said: “To allow us to fully investigate these offences and ensure we take action against all those who are responsible for this type of behaviour we need as much information as possible. If you are concerned about contacting the police you call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
