Van owners are being reminded to remove any items from their vehicles following a series of thefts in Blackwater.
Overnight on Friday, July 31 into Saturday, August 1, three vans in Baileys Close, one in Frogmore Park Drive, one in Sandown Close and one in The Birches were broken into.
In total, more than £5,000 worth of building tools and equipment was stolen.
Officers are reminding motorists to look after their vehicles so they are not an easy target for thieves.
PC Oliver Innes, from the Hart Impact Team, said: “These thefts all happened overnight and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw anyone acting suspiciously.

“We are always working hard to detect and stop vehicle crime but we do need the help of the public to help discourage criminals.
“Always make sure that your vehicle is well secured when it is left unattended, especially overnight. It is also important to ensure that tools and valuables are removed from your vehicle wherever possible and place a note in the windscreen to let people know it is empty.”

Hampshire Constabulary has offered the following advice as part of its Safer Vehicles campaign:
- Park your vehicle in a secure area (in a garage or behind locked gates, if possible).
- Use a steering wheel or gear stick lock to deter theft of the vehicle.
- If you do not have a secure parking place, park in a well-lit street in easy view of your own or a neighbour’s house.
- Ensure all windows and doors are properly secured when left unattended.
- Remove valuable items from the vehicle overnight and store them in a secure place. Place a notice in the windscreen stating that no tools are stored in the vehicle.
- Do not leave tools or equipment on view inside the vehicle.
- Consider fitting an appropriate alarm system, protecting the cabin and load areas.
- Apply a security marking product to power tools and equipment.
- Alternatively, etch or emboss identifiable marks to these items.
