Police are appealing for witnesses after two bins were set alight in Yateley during the early hours of Saturday, August 22.

Between 2.30am and 3.30am two bins were set alight near to Yateley Library in School Lane.

Both bins were destroyed during the fires but nobody was injured.

PC Noel Griffiths, of the Yateley Targeted Patrol Team, said: “Starting fires on purpose is extremely dangerous and is a risk to innocent members of the public as well as the people who start them.

“Fortunately on this occasion the fire did not spread and nobody was injured. However we are keen to trace the people responsible.

“We would ask anyone who knows who they are or anyone who may have been disturbed when the fires were started to contact us as soon as possible.

“Hampshire Constabulary is currently running a summer anti-social behaviour campaign and we would ask any residents who have any concerns to contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.”
