Police are appealing for information after a number of bales of hay were damaged in Hook overnight between Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7.

Sometime between 6.30pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday six bales of hay that were wrapped in black plastic were damaged in a field off Great Sheldons.

PC Stacy Beale, of the Hook Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "These bales were deliberately damaged rendering them unusable.

"They are worth around £35 each and are used to feed race horses.

"We would ask anyone who has any information about this damage to contact us as soon as possible.

"We would ask residents and walkers to respect the countryside and ensure that litter is taken home with them. We also advise people to keep to marked footpaths and avoid trespassing on private land."
