A driver involved in a single-vehicle collision on the M3 at Fleet on earlier this week has died.

At around 10.46am on Monday, September 21, a silver Mercedes was heading south when it collided with the central reservation.

The vehicle travelled across three lanes, came off the carriageway and ended up 40 yards from the motorway down an embankment.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, was taken to Frimley Park Hospital where he died earlier this morning.

Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw the car driving prior to it.
