Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an incident in Aldershot in the early hours of Sunday, December 6.
At around 3.10am a 28-year-old woman was walking along Redan Road when she was approached by a man. The man grabbed her skirt and then her throat. She then managed to break free and run off.
The man is described as:
-
Black
-
Around 30 years old
-
5ft 10ins tall
-
Wearing a black jacket
Detective Constable Andy Panter, of Aldershot CID, said: “This was a disturbing incident for the victim who was walking home alone late at night.
“Although the area would have been relatively quiet someone may have been disturbed and seen something.
“We would ask any witnesses or anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”
“We would urge people to plan ahead when going for a night out; make sure you are able to get home safely, and take a taxi to your house or go with friends instead of walking alone.”
Hampshire Constabulary offers the following advice:
P – Prepare. Know how you are getting home, pre-book a taxi and let someone know where you’re going. Make sure you have enough credit on your mobile phone for emergencies.
L – Look confident. Someone clearly under the influence of alcohol looks more vulnerable.
A – Act to avoid risk. Think twice before accepting drinks from someone you don’t know well and never accept lifts from cruising cars or cabs.
N – Never assume it will never happen to you. Trust your instincts; they are there to warn you of danger.
