The total level of crime has continued to fall in the Rushmoor district according to Hampshire Constabulary’s annual performance figures.

There have been almost more than 600 fewer victims of crime in the last year compared to 2008/09.

Total crime for Rushmoor fell from 7,369 last year to 6,703 in 2009/10, a reduction of nine per cent.

Reports of anti-social behaviour fell dramatically by 32 per cent from 4,969 last year to 3,406 this year. Criminal damage also reduced by 16 per cent and there was a 25 per cent reduction in reports of robbery.

There were also fewer thefts of motor vehicles, 26 per cent less than last year.

Commander for the Rushmoor District Chief Inspector Duncan Weston, said: “It is excellent that once again crime in Rushmoor is down and it shows the hard work of all of my officers and staff is paying off.

“We are working particularly hard to target anti-social behaviour and criminal damage and these figures show that the problems are being reduced.

“Our Safer Neighbourhoods teams work very closely with their local communities to identify priorities that need to be addressed.

“The support of everyone in our communities is invaluable and we hope to extend our links with you throughout the year.

“By providing a high visibility police presence throughout the next 12 months we hope to reduce crime even further next year.

“If any members of the public have any issues in their neighbourhood they can contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods team by calling 101 or find further information from the local policing pages at www.hampshire.police.uk.”
