Police have officially closed a house in Farnborough after a Crack House Closure Order was granted by Aldershot magistrates under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 on Tuesday, June 15.
The order means that no-one can enter the property at 78 Carmarthen Close for three months, and during this time, it is a criminal offence for anyone to enter the address unless authorised by police.
PC Johnathan Adcock, from the Farnborough Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “We work closely with members of our community to target issues that are affecting them.
“This closure order has been granted following community engagement and listening to resident’s concerns in the neighbourhood. It proves that by working together we can make our communities safer for everyone.
“Drug use and drug supply affects everyone's quality of life, especially those living within a close proximity to where the offence is taking place.
“We will continue to pursue and actively target those involved in drug-related anti-social behaviour to improve safety in the community.
“We would ask anyone who suspect drugs are being used in their neighbourhood to contact us as soon as possible.”
Abi Little, Neighbourhood Services Manager at First Wessex, said: “We work hard to support the police in their efforts to tackle drug crime in our communities and this success sends a strong message to everyone. First Wessex and our partner agencies are doing our utmost to remove this kind of activity and safeguard other residents.
“The tenant of the property has been given support and advice and our Neighbourhoods team is in close contact with residents in the nearby area, making sure they are reassured and that their questions are answered.
“This type of activity is a serious breach of our tenancy agreement and we operate a zero tolerance approach in dealing with known instances of class A drug use. I would like to appeal to any residents who know of any similar suspicious activities in their community to come forward and let us know so that we can act now to stop it.”
