Police are appealing for information and witnesses after bikes, water skis and power tools were stolen during a burglary in Fleet on Saturday, July 10.
Sometime between 12pm and 6pm, a double external garage in Sian Close was broken into.
A white framed Specialized mountain bike, an orange framed Mongoose mountain bike with blue wheels, a pair of black water skis and two power tools were stolen.
PC James Copley, from the Yateley Targeted Patrol Team, said: “The person or people responsible for this burglary would have been quite noticeable and we would like to hear from anyone who has any information.
“Did you see someone carrying a pair of water skis or using an orange bike with blue wheels in the area on Friday afternoon? If so, please get in touch.
“Also, please remember to make sure your sheds and garages are locked and secure to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of this sort of crime.”
Hampshire Constabulary offers the following crime prevention advice:
- Don’t leave valuable property in a shed which is either unlocked or so run-down that it is no obstacle to a thief.
- Fit decent locks to your shed door. Padlocks used externally should be no less than 6cm wide and made of hardened steel. A closed shackle type is best.
- If you have a garage, don’t be fooled into thinking it is more secure than a shed. Make sure a suitable lock is fitted and a shed alarm or similar is installed. Many up-and-over style garage doors are easily broken into but a padlock with a hasp and staple on the inside is an effective way of improving security.
- Marking the bicycle with your postcode and house number acts as a deterrent to theft and assists the police with identifying recovered property.
- Secure your bicycle with a good quality cycle lock.
- Keep a note of the bicycle frame number. This will add identification should the cycle be recovered by the police.
- Store a digital photo of the bicycle in a safe place. Such evidence is key when police recover property.
