Police now are able to name the man who died when the van he was driving was in collision with a Land Rover near the A3 at Petersfield.  

 

He is Nicholas Whay, 33, of Longfield Road, Ash, near Aldershot.  

 

At 8.25pm Sunday, January 11, Mr Whay was driving towards the A3 on the Sheet link. 

 

The van crossed the central reservation and collided with the Land Rover Discovery, which was travelling on the northbound A3 offslip towards Petersfield.  

 

Mr Whay died at the scene of the collision. 

 

The 71-year-old driver of the Land Rover and his 40-year-old passenger, both men from Rogate, Sussex, were not injured.

 

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
