Police are appealing for witnesses after two caravans were stolen in Hook between Wednesday January 7 and Friday, January 9.

The first caravan, a Hymer Nova 540, was stolen from the front garden of an address in Reading Road between 6.30pm and 10.10pm on the Wednesday.

The second was stolen from a field at the rear of a property in Holt Lane between 3.30pm on the Thursday and 8.30am on the Friday. This time the model stolen was a Hymer Living 530/4 caravan worth around £11,000.

PC Stacey Beale, of the Hook Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "To have two incidents like this in such a short space of time is unusual and we believe the thefts are linked.

"We would ask anyone who saw either of the vehicles being stolen or being towed in the area to contact police as soon as possible.

"Caravan owners are encouraged to check that they have adequate security devices attached to their vehicles. It is also worth having the roof of your caravan post coded in case it is stolen and recovered.

"Various devices including tow hitch locks, wheel brace locks and ball locks are available to help avoid these kinds of crime."
