Police in Aldershot are appealing for information after an envelope containing cash was stolen from the letterbox of a bank in the town.

At around 4.45pm on Sunday, January 11 an envelope containing £500 was posted into the letterbox of Lloyds TSB in Victoria Street.

However the following day the envelope could not be found.

Officers believe the letterbox may have been tampered with.

PC Natalie Wright, of the Aldershot Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious near to Lloyds TSB in Victoria Street at the time.

"We also want to advise people not to deposit cash through the letterbox if possible and report anything suspicious to police immediately.

"Secure deposits can be made by using the cash points at the bank."
