Detectives in Aldershot are appealing for information after a robbery in Farnborough in the early hours of Saturday, February 28.

Just after midnight two 18-year-old men were walking home along Fernhill Road. As they reached the junction with Mayfield Road a group of four youths approached them.

Three of the youths were carrying baseball bats and the fourth had a samurai sword. They threatened the two men and demanded they hand over their belongings.

The men gave cigarettes and a lighter to the group. They demanded more but the two men managed to run off.

The youths followed them and eventually caught up with one of the men who was threatened with a baseball bat and forced to hand over his Nokia N95 mobile phone. The group then walked off.

Detective Constable Kevin Durrant, of the Aldershot Priority Crime Unit, said: "This robbery happened at a time when people may have been making their way home from a night out in the town so it is likely someone may have witnessed it.

"We are particularly concerned that this group were carrying weapons and believe people would have noticed this as this type of behaviour is not common in Farnborough.

"The penalties for carrying bladed articles such as swords are severe and could result in a prison sentence.

"We would ask anyone with information or anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police as soon as possible."
