Detectives appeal for witnesses after attempted burglary in Yateley

Detectives in Aldershot are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary in Yateley on Wednesday, January 13.

At around 10.50pm an attempt was made to break into the cash machine at Waitrose in Tresham Crescent.

Police believe that two men used an angle grinder to try to open the machine. However they were unsuccessful and nothing was stolen.

Both men were wearing dark balaclavas, dark trousers and sleeveless fluorescent jackets.

Detective Constable Helen Calton, of Aldershot CID, said: “There may have been people in the area at the time and we would ask anyone who saw any suspicious activity to contact us as soon as possible.

“Although nothing was stolen the machine was damaged and is now out of action.

“If you know who may have been responsible please contact us.”
