Youngsters bowled over by cricket scheme in Hawley |
| |
Young people in the Hart district are being given the opportunity to learn to play cricket as part of a project being organised by police and Hawley Cricket Club. Anyone aged between 10 and 16 is invited along to the free sessions which are held twice a month at Hawley Leisure Centre. PCSO Martin Petto is a fully qualified Hampshire and Surrey cricket coach and has been involved in organising the project. He said: “These sessions provides youngsters with a great chance to get involved in organised cricket lessons. “We are always looking to improve facilities for young people in the area and this is an opportunity for young people to meet up, get active and have fun. “We have worked closely with Hawley Cricket Club to start running the sessions and who knows, we might even discover the next Andrew Flintoff!” There is no cost for the coaching but in the future there may be a charge of £10 a year if the children want to take part in matches representing Hawley Cricket Club. The sessions take place at Hawley Leisure Centre from 5pm to 6pm on the following dates:
- Wednesday, February 3
- Wednesday, February 17
